I’m passionate about raising money for good causes, so when I received a lovely invitation from our friends to join the the after party at Hixster, Bankside, to raise money for the Princess Alexandra cancer unit, of course I said yes!  But before that my group of friends I headed for the OXO Tower in London for a great view and excellent food.

My friends and I stayed at St Ermins hotel in London at St James Park. It’s a four-star hotel with the most fabulous entrance.

We are set to make a return visit however, after we were left feeling most disgruntled that the bar was shut when we arrived back from Hixster at 3.30am.  (They have apologised!)

I made my way to review the OXO Tower Brasserie before the Hixster Bankside bash. Work never seems to stop!

The relaxed Brasserie and cocktail bar boasts stunning views across the Thames to Charing Cross and the City of London.

Yorkshire born Head Chef Jeremy Bloor has been manning the stoves of the OXO Tower Restaurant since 2001. Provenance is at the heart of Jeremy’s cooking and his dishes are a celebration of the best-quality seasonal ingredients.

The view from the OXO Tower

Our group sat in the cocktail bar for pre-dinner champagne and cocktails. It was a lovely warm evening so we could make the most of the views across the city! It certainly gives Dubai a run for its money!

The Brasserie is definitely a popular destination for Londoners and tourists alike. It was heaving with people, but the staff were amazing and there was no delays in service.

Hailing from the West Country, Head Chef Keir Barry has created the ultimate modern Brasserie menu. The food was impressive with a vast choice of Asian, ethnic and traditional. I chose the Asian Beef Carpaccio and the Sea Bream with light vegetables. It was all very tasty, but no room or time for pudding!

I popped next door to the OXO Restaurant which has a completely different feel, much more sedate after being ‘the other side.’ The menu is more expensive, but looks like it’s worth a try!

We loved Hixsters at Bankside – it was glamorous and fun.  The girls who organised this party had fabulous Mojitos and Cosmos on tap and we all danced the night away!

Kate paid for the After-Party costing £75 per head, proceeds were donated to the Princess Alexandra Trust.

The OXO Tower meal was £45 per head including wine and St Ermins Hotel in London was £200 per night.
