Is Rio de Janerio in Brasil worth Visiting?

The answer to this question is entirely obvious. It’s as if someone has just asked whether you like money, or if you’d like it if pizza contained no calories! The only response to any of these is, of course, a resounding ‘yes’.

But we know you need more than that. You require details. You want to know exactly what you stand to miss out on should you refrain from visiting Rio. You want to be enticed! Well, that’s exactly what we’re here to do.

The Beaches!

You simply cannot come to Rio without sampling the delights of the city’s beaches. There are a ridiculous number of sand-covered oceanside spots – from Ipanema to Copacabana, Barra da Tijuca to Prainha – all of which provide opportunities to surf, swim, eat, play football, drink and party. Your biggest issue will be finding enough time to visit all of the city’s beaches – there are many secluded spots even the locals don’t know about!

Of course, Rio’s beaches are perhaps best known because they are a playground for some of the world’s best and most recognisable surfers, so if that’s something you fancy attempting, you could do a lot worse than checking out a guide to surfing around the city.

The People

People make a place, and so visiting a city where the people are warm, welcoming and fun really makes a holiday that much better.

Brazilians love nothing better than getting together to drink beer, eat food and spend time with loved ones. However, it is an incredibly friendly culture even for outsiders, and so you won’t have to search for too long if you fancy being invited to a get together of some kind. Rio has previously been ranked as the world’s friendliest city, so don’t just take our word for it!

The Sights!

As with any major city, there are an abundance of sights and wonders waiting for you. Aside from the spectacular (and Instagram-worthy) Christ the Redeemer statue, (check out pictures here… https://unsplash.com/photos/09U5gmahokw), which perches atop a mountain and overlooks the city, you should take the time to go up Sugarloaf Mountain via cable car, visit Vidigal, one of the country’s most colourful and vibrant favelas, spend an afternoon wandering around the Museum of Tomorrow, which houses numerous exhibitions showcasing what the future of our planet could look like, and then spend an evening in Pedra do Sal, which claims to be the home of samba. And, even if it didn’t originate there, there’s no denying that it is one of the best places in the entire world to get your groove on well into the early hours.

The Parties!

There is no place in the world like Rio when it comes to partying. Whether you want to get your dancing shoes on, fancy drinking the night away in the company of friends and a caipirinha or two, or want to listen to live music until you’re ready to drop, there will be something for you every night of the week.

And, what’s more, you won’t have to look for long; Rio is a town famed for its parties, and there will be something happening on nearly every street, commercial or residential!

The Food

If you’ve got a hankering for fresh fish, fruits, vegetables and barbecued meats, then you are in for a treat. Given that residents of Rio spend so much time outdoors – either in gardens, on rooftops, or at the beach – it makes sense that they are experts when it comes to well-cooked barbecue food, but you really can’t imagine the quality; you simply have to experience it for yourself.
