This September, St Martin’s Courtyard in Covent Garden will be transformed into a 140 seat, open-air cinema. Why? To showcase a series of iconic British films, such as the hilarious and distinctly British Shaun of the Dead, emotionally powerful Billy Elliot, and the sweeping Academy Award-winning Atonement, featuring Kiera Knightly.
The event will feature a full-sized cinema screen for three nights under the stars to showcase these films which represent the many facets of British cinema. Running from Tuesday 29th September to Thursday the 1st of October, the event will feature live entertainment before the main feature, including zombies roaming the courtyard and performances from the Royal Ballet School all extremely exciting, we think, and considering tickets are free this is definitely not one to miss!
We think this sounds very exciting – it’s great to see an event which celebrates the best of British talent, and what better place to showcase these iconic films than in the equally iconic Covent Garden in our famous capital city?
Tickets are allocated through an online prize draw at www.stmartinscourtyard.co.uk, and lucky winners are entitled to a plus one. Plus, 120 lucky winners will be given wireless headphones for each screening, and to round off the cinema experience a selection of free sweets, popcorn and soft drinks will be available. In true British fashion, Pimm’s, Strawberries and Cream, and traditional Cornish ice cream are available for a small donation to charity!
So grab your blankets (and maybe an umbrella, we all know what the British weather can be like!) and head down to St Martin’s Courtyard this autumn for a brilliantly British event!
